Samana Province is on the far northeastern tip of the Dominican Republic. It boasts some of the country’s most beautiful and rugged jungle and hilltop scenery, as well as miles and miles of breathtaking, unspoiled beaches. The real attraction here is the world-renowned spectacular seasonal humpback whale migration.

Every year from about January 15 to March 31, humpback whales make their way from icy northern waters to Samana Bay to give birth to their young before returning home in spring. They can often be seen from the shore all along the north coast, and especially in the Las Galeras and Samana regions as they travel to the bay.  A true wonder of nature!
