About Marina Puerto Bahia
Marina Puerta Bahia, Samaná is home to a world-class marina, luxury resort, and community of residences set against the beautiful backdrop of Samaná Bay, a world-famous winter whale-watching destination. From mountaintop family villas to spacious yet cozy condominiums, enjoy bay and marina views right from your home’s windows.
This exclusive gated and guarded enclave is surrounded by jungle, and set back one mile from the resort’s entrance on the main highway into Samaná town. As you pass through the 24-hour security gate and follow the winding road down the hill, pause to take in the breathtaking views of Samaná Bay.
Puerto Bahia is also home to the storied, upscale Bannister Hotel, which features a spa, three restaurants, a gym, kids’ club, billiards room, a small supermarket, tennis courts, and multiple swimming pools including an oceanfront infinity pool at the resort’s Ocean Club. The Ocean Club also offers kayaking, paddle boarding, and a secured swim raft to enjoy the ocean in safety. All residents and guests have free access to the resort facilities.
If you choose to rent out your property in this high-demand winter season region, the resort also offers full-service property management.
In addition to typical services like trash pickup, cable television, and internet access, the community has a generator to ensure constant electrical service, a substantial well, plus a dedicated wastewater treatment plant. This water system gives guests and residents the added convenience of flushing paper in the toilets.
Puerto Bahia Marina is a small but extremely well-run facility serving boaters and cruisers from all over the world. The excellent (and English-speaking) marina staff make every stay seamless and enjoyable for the many cruisers passing through each season. A marina stay includes access to all resort amenities as well as a free laundry room and showers.
Samaná Province is on the far northeastern tip of the Dominican Republic. It boasts some of the country’s most beautiful and rugged jungle and hilltop scenery, as well as miles and miles of breathtaking, unspoiled beaches.
But the region’s premier attraction is the spectacular, world-renowned seasonal humpback whale migration. Each year from about January 15 to March 31, humpback whales journey from icy northern waters to Samaná Bay to give birth to their young before returning home in spring. They can often be seen from the shore all along the north coast, and especially in the Las Galeras and Samaná regions as they travel to the bay. A true wonder of nature!
